Evan, From where do you get you humor? Seeing this very popular book (movie) through your eyes made me laugh (a phenomenon that seems particular to your 100 word pieces so far!) FYI, I loved the book, saw the movie twice, and am fat, A-religious, and the love of my life died ten years ago. Maybe that is why the SBH Recover Center declined my application for admission. Fondly, Michael
Also: 😂 I apologize that your application was rejected … I’m in touch with the director (I’m his copywriter), and will send him a strongly worded letter
Evan, Please do not bother to send a note to the director. I am not sure I would really want to attend vs keeping the fantasy of Julia Roberts alive! Fondly, Michael
Evan, I read the word "portentous" as "pretentious". I like the idea "comedy is tragedy plus time,” however will need to give it some more thought. While that can happen, I am not sure that is the best definition of the word comedy. Fondly, Michael
It’s one of many, and I’m still not sure who originally coined it … but yes, I think it only applies in certain situations (because how else to explain funny people who’ve had mostly drama-free lives)

I’d like to sound portentous and say it’s because “comedy is tragedy plus time,” but most likely I just get my sense of humor from my dad

Evan,
Or comedy that will never work well with tragedy. Fondly, Michael
But also, how cool that you were able to laugh at this while still being a genuine fan of the book and movie!
Evan, Who would I be if I couldn't laugh at myself! Fondly, Michael
You did it again you made me snort laugh while I was reading.
This is what I love to hear!
Another enjoyable read Evan! A funny take on Eat, Love, Pray. The part about Melissa Gilbert gave me a laugh out loud!!!🤣
Out of curiosity, which of the groups would you have been in? 😝
I would no doubt be part of the Loves but without the cultural appropriation! 🤭
😆 well that’s good!!
